Practical guide

Understanding image watermarks.

Learn how to protect your photos, graphics, and brand assets effectively without ruining the visual appeal.

Why watermark your images?

A watermark establishes ownership and discourages unauthorized use across social media, client previews, and public marketplaces. Whether it is a subtle copyright notice, an Instagram handle, or your business brand, watermarking ensures that your work can always be attributed back to you wherever it travels.

Text vs. logo overlays

Text watermarks are quick to customize with fonts, bold styling, outlines, and drop shadows to ensure readability on bright or busy backgrounds. Logo watermarks let you upload transparent PNG emblems, signatures, or vector icons for a polished corporate look. You can also combine both layers simultaneously on the same image.

Placement and tiled patterns

Corner placements (like bottom-right) are standard for non-intrusive branding, while center watermarks offer stronger protection for proofing. For maximum anti-theft defense against AI scrapers and cropping, use the tiled pattern mode to repeat your mark at an angle across the entire image with custom spacing.

Privacy and resolution consistency

Your images and logo files never leave your device. All rendering, compositing, and encoding occur entirely in your browser using HTML5 Canvas and Web Workers. Relative sizing scales your mark proportionally so it looks identical across different image sizes in the same batch.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Helpful answers.

How do I add a text watermark to a photo?

Enable the Text layer and enter the words you want to display. Choose a font, size, color and position, then review the preview before applying the watermark. Keep it readable without covering important parts of the photo.

Can I use my own logo as a watermark?

Enable the Logo layer and choose a logo image from your device. A transparent PNG is useful when you want the logo without a visible rectangular background. If the browser cannot decode your logo, try a supported PNG, JPG or WebP version.

How do I adjust watermark opacity and position?

Select the text or logo layer, then change its opacity and use a position preset or click the preview to place it. Adjust the size and edge margin as needed. Check the mark against both light and dark parts of the image.

Can I apply one watermark to multiple images?

Add several images and set up the text or logo watermark for the batch. Placement and sizing scale relative to each image, so review the previews when your photos have different proportions. Apply the watermark, then download individual results or a ZIP.

How do repeated or tiled watermarks work?

Enable Repeat Watermark to place copies of the selected layer across the image. Adjust the available spacing and rotation settings to control the pattern. Keep opacity and spacing balanced so the image remains useful for its intended preview or presentation.

Does a watermark prevent people from copying my image?

A watermark can help with attribution and discourage casual reuse, but it cannot prevent every copy, crop or removal attempt. Adding one does not prove copyright ownership. Use material you have permission to use and keep records of your original work.
